The Hetfield plugin is purpose-built for this. Load the Puppets preset as a base. Heavily scooped mids, tight bass, and massive gain.
The main rhythm tone came from a Gibson Flying V plugged directly into a Mesa/Boogie Mark IIC+, with a BB/Aphex EQF-1 inserted in the amplifier’s effects loop. Flemming Rasmussen’s surviving notes provide unusually precise amplifier settings, while the external EQ curve and clean-interlude chain remain partly undocumented.
