Terms of Service
Last updated: 20 September 2026
1. About these terms
These terms apply when you use ToneMatch. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use ToneMatch.
2. Who can use ToneMatch
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything that happens under your account.
3. What ToneMatch is — and isn't
ToneMatch is a place for guitarists to share amp settings, signal chains and presets for specific songs. Presets are contributed by the community and represent someone's best attempt at a tone. They are not official, not endorsed by any artist or manufacturer, and we make no promise that any preset will sound like the recording.
We do not host guitar tabs, sheet music, or song recordings. Where a preset links to a tab site, that link is provided by a community member and the linked site's terms apply.
4. Content you post
You keep ownership of everything you post. By posting it you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute it as part of running ToneMatch. This licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies already made by others or held in backups for a reasonable period.
You agree that anything you post is yours to share, and that it:
- does not infringe anyone's copyright or other rights;
- contains no tab files, sheet music, song audio, or other material you do not have the right to distribute;
- is not unlawful, abusive, harassing, hateful, or deliberately misleading;
- is not spam, advertising, or automated bulk submission;
- contains no malware or harmful files.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules. You can report content using the report button on any preset or comment.
5. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on ToneMatch infringes your copyright, email legal@tonematch.io with a link to the material, a description of the work you own, and confirmation that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them. We will review and remove infringing material promptly, and may terminate accounts that repeatedly infringe.
6. Trade marks and gear names
Amplifier, pedal and software names are trade marks of their respective owners. They are used here only to describe equipment and settings. ToneMatch is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of those companies.
7. Availability
ToneMatch is provided as-is. We do our best to keep it running but we don't guarantee it will always be available, error-free, or that content will never be lost. We may change or discontinue features.
8. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, or damage to your equipment arising from settings found on ToneMatch. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot legally be excluded.
A practical note: amp settings involve volume. Protect your hearing and your speakers — start low.
9. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from your profile settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms.
10. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use ToneMatch after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
