Dookie Mod Punch — Palm-Muted Pop-Punk Rhythm
Billie Joe Armstrong’s Fernandes Strat-style guitar “Blue,” fitted with a bridge humbucker, fed a modified Marshall 1959 Super Lead known as “Pete” for the Dookie sound. The amp’s modification supplied the tight extra gain without a conventional distortion-pedal chain. Exact session control positions were not published, so settings are approximated from the documented guitar, modified Marshall and Vintage 30 cabinet. Notes
Use less gain than a modern pop-punk preset and double-track tightly. The palm mutes should stay percussive while open chords widen dramatically.
