Dean DeLeo described his Core-era sound as a 1978 Les Paul feeding a Demeter TGP-3 preamp and VHT stereo power amp, with a clean Vox AC30 adding chord clarity. The spacious modulation associated with “Plush” came from a Rocktron Intelliverb, and DeLeo varied gain largely from the guitar controls.
