By the Way Dynamic Split — Percussive Clean & DS-2 Chorus

The title track contrasts a tightly muted clean verse with a much broader distorted chorus. Frusciante’s album-era setup centred on his 1962 Stratocaster and large Marshall Major/Super Bass-family amplifiers, but the precise guitar, pedal and control assignments for this individual track are not fully documented, so the DS-2 chorus settings are a conservative reconstruction. Notes

Mute the verse with both hands and keep the clean sound bright but full. The chorus should widen through doubled performances and DS-2 compression rather than excessive amplifier gain.
